Description
Shrub to small tree growing 12-30’ tall with short crooked trunk and irregular crown. Leaves are distinct heart shape growing 2.5-5” in length. Before the leaves of Redbud unfold their showy magenta pink flowers appear in clusters from spring to early summer. Redbud bears a pea-pod like fruit that bears seed for future generations. Redbud is native to Michigan and is a common landscaping tree due to its spring fluorescence.
