Thank you for an amazing 1st River Race of Two Cities!
2025 was the first year hosting the River Race of Two Cities and we intend to build it into a Gladwin County tradition for years to come. So we want to hear from racers, volunteers, spectators, businesses, local government, and everyone in between.

River Race of Two Cities 2025 Photos:

The River Race of Two Cities is more than just a 12.5-mile canoe/kayak marathon on the Cedar River, it’s a celebration of the natural resources and outdoor recreation opportunities in Gladwin County. Until recently, this stretch of the Cedar River was unnavigable due to downed trees and debris obstructing the waterway. The community has since rallied with the Gladwin Conservation District to transform the Cedar River into a navigable waterway that balances recreation with ecological health.

The goal of the River Race of Two Cities is to host a fun and competitive event, bring communities together, support Gladwin County organizations and businesses, encourage outdoor recreation, and bring attention to the ongoing work to protect and enhance our natural environment.

Outdoor recreation provides an incredible opportunity to show community members what is possible when we prioritize conservation and take care of the natural resources that support us. We intend to build the Gladwin County River Race of Two Cities into a yearly tradition here in Gladwin County, providing more opportunities for the community with every year we grow.

We look forward to seeing you in 2026 as we come together again to paddle, celebrate, and appreciate the beauty of Gladwin County’s natural resources!
